Do your bathroom accessories fit your style?
Do your bathrooms accessories fit your style or did you pick it out because you thought it was pretty? When we first purchased our home I fell in love with our bathroom. It was huge; it had a double sink with a garden tub and a sit down shower. I first decorated my bathroom with the first thing I saw at Walmart that was pretty and cheap but soon found I was bored.
Every time I walked into my bathroom I wasn't happy, I was bored with it and it just didn't seem to fit with the rest of my house. I had to take a moment and reflect. What was my style? What was the rest of my house decorated in? I was country, pure country.
I looked around my house and decided that if my kitchen was decorated in roosters, my bedroom was decorated in fishing and hunting motiff then my bathroom had to have a country theme about it too. I soon found myself looking at Country magazines, websites and whatever else I could look at in order to look at and get ideas of what I wanted to do.
I sat down my family and I got ideas from everyone because I believe decorating should be a mutual decision, after all us all live there not just one or two of us but we all do kids included. I wanted everyone to have a say so. We flipped through magazines, books and whatever else we could. We finally decided on a bath house theme. What a theme for a bathroom, 'bath houses.'
I did the women thing and went shopping which was my ultimately
favorite part. We went to home improvement stores, shopping malls and I even searched on eBay. I found of tons of stuff that I liked so I got out the checkbook and credit card and started shopping. I wanted enough stuff to make my bathroom complete without making it too cluttered.
I purchased a bath house border, pinecone garland, navy curtains and of course the little decorations such as rugs, toilet papers holder, toothbrush holder and a soap dispenser. I quickly got it all together and started decorating. I feel now I have accomplished what I wanted to do, I made my bathroom personal and yet it reflected my style. When you look at my bathroom accessories you should know my what my style is.
I think more people today purchase things because they find it attractive but does it show who you are? Does someone comes in your house and see all dark colors but know you are a colorful person. Is your living room one style and your kitchen something else? Some people can pull that style off, but our house is laid out to where all the rooms almost tie together so they have to be somewhat uniform.
I want to come home at the end of a day and feel comfortable and at peace. I want to know that someone comes to my house and sees that I am country so they feel country too. That is my style! I want them to come in and relax.
